Webinar Recap: Business Intelligence for Demand Response

Today, many agencies are data-rich but information-poor, meaning agencies have a lot of data, but most of them don’t know what to do with it. As the paratransit landscape changes, the need for more powerful decision making tools is growing. Does your agency’s demand response operation have the right tools to leverage the wealth of data it holds and be able to do more with less?

I recently hosted a webinar with Bruce Jansen, Senior Demand Response Consultant, where we discussed how your agency can use leading business intelligence tools to identify trends, and make stronger planning and scheduling decisions to improve your demand response operations.

In this webinar, I first discussed the factors contributing to the changing paratransit landscape, and described the steps your agency can take to be successful, such as:

  1. Mine the data stored in your systems
  2. Using a business intelligence tool, create insights with real-time data
  3. Make stronger, evidence-based decisions

I then went on to describe what actions your agency can take with a business intelligence tool, how these actions can be taken, and what can be achieved from them. I described how your agency can:

  • Monitor your operations with summary dashboards and set thresholds and alerts
  • Improve customer experience with projected late trip functions
  • Engage your workforce with dashboards and big board metrics
  • Improve safety with warning thresholds and alerts
  • Evaluate your agency’s decisions by tracking decision metrics and trends
  • Discover those “a-ha!” moments when you discover insights into your operations

With that, I also discussed the power and versatility of Trapeze’s ViewPoint business intelligence tool through a brief case study of Miami Dade Transit.

Using a business intelligence tool, Joel Perez, Chief Superintendent of Bus Operations, designed a series of dashboards providing information on various success metrics to help empower decision making and move MDT forward in becoming an information-rich organization.

To finish off the webinar, Bruce Jansen went through a brief demo of our ViewPoint solution for demand response, including the KPIs and reporting options available.
