Network Engineer Position
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for Computer Network design, implementation, and support for transit customer projects according to customer specifications.
This individual will design and implement computer network infrastructure for public transit and other potential customers. Candidate must have advanced knowledge of Windows 2008 R2 server platforms, including DNS, WINS, Active Directory, clustering, and GPOs. Strong TCP/IP networking skills and experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and 802.11x wireless LAN networks are also required. Basic Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and Citrix MetaFrame experience is required. MCSE, MCSA, or CCNP certification is a plus.
Candidate must have experience using Microsoft Office applications in particular Microsoft Visio.
This position requires excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills and strong communications and technical writing abilities. Must be willing to travel and provide after-hours support.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in technical field with at least 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical demands required in this position include those found in a typical office and laboratory environment with additional functions required to be able to install, carry, and transfer electronic equipment of approximately 50 pounds.

Functions are required to be performed in the following representative areas: office, warehouse, laboratory, vehicle mechanical maintenance shop, vehicle electronics shop, vehicle storage facilities (indoor and outdoor), computer server rooms, building rooftops, radio tower sites, city transit vehicles, and support vehicles.
LANGUAGE SKILLS ABILITY:
Candidates must be able to read, analyze, and interpret requests for proposals (RFP's), technical procedures and requirements, general business periodicals, professional journals, governmental regulations, and ability to write reports, business correspondences, and respond to technical proposals.
Candidates must also show the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
REASONING ABILITY:
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. This position requires the candidate to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to fluently communicate with people from widely diverse educational backgrounds on technical terms in the English language, both verbal and written. Must have the ability to explain and teach complex mechanical and electrical systems. This position requires considerable travel, mostly domestic but international may be required.
