2011 UK Bus Awards Honor Mobile Ticketing System That Allows Travelers to Buy and Use Transit Tickets on Mobile Phones
Trapeze Group is proud to announce that Arriva Bus UK, a long-term Trapeze customer, won an Innovation award at the 2011 UK Bus Awards. Arriva was honored “for their pioneering work on mobile phone ticketing.”
The cutting edge technology, developed by Trapeze in close cooperation with Arriva, allows customers to buy, receive and use bus tickets on mobile phones. Arriva became the first bus company in the world to launch a national mobile ticketing system back in November 2009, and since then, it has proved to be a major success helping deliver more than one million bus journeys. It is this incredible success that allowed Arriva to come out on top at the prestigious 2011 UK Bus Awards on Tuesday, November 29, by claiming victory in the ‘Innovation’ category.
Mike Woodhouse, Marketing Manager with Arriva, who led the m-ticketing project and played a major part in developing the technology, said: “It is a huge honor to win this award, especially for our m-ticketing system, of which we are particularly proud. We constantly strive to improve the level of service we provide to our customers and it is great to see this has been recognized by industry experts.”
This Trapeze mobile ticketing technology that won Arriva this award is now available for transportation operators in North America as part of the full Trapeze traveler information suite of software. Trapeze is committed to providing its customers with technology that allows them to improve their service with accessible, convenient, consistent and accurate information to help build a loyal, long-term ridership.
