MTA moves Trapeze into the back office to streamline its day-to-day operations
Toronto, ON - November 29, 2010

BALTIMORE, MD, November 29, 2010 Trapeze Group today announced that the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore, Maryland is now live with a comprehensive operations management solution. MTA passengers have been benefiting from Trapeze traveller information solutions for several years -- now MTA employees have the opportunity to utilize additional Trapeze software in the back office.

The Trapeze operations management solution (Trapeze OPS) is a unique transit software solution helping to streamline frequently performed operational tasks including bidding, dispatching, timekeeping, workforce management and yard management. It can be further enhanced with interactive voice response (IVR) access to work assignments and Web-based access to bidding requests, work assignments, employee information and more.

“We are excited to start seeing the results of implementing the Trapeze OPS system,” stated Jeff Snyder, Project Manager at MTA.  “With the automation of dispatching and better accountability of service, we anticipate Trapeze OPS making us more efficient, and being more accurate at forecasting our deliverable service hours and manpower.”

The operations management solution for MTA includes functionality that enables employee sign ups, dispatching of daily activities, timekeeping, yard management and workforce management.  Looking forward, this solution can be enhanced to include software that allows operators to sign in at a kiosk or remote terminal and also securely view personal information online over the Web, including bidding requests, daily work assignments, timekeeping, and employee information.

The Trapeze operations management solution is just one component of the Trapeze transit enterprise offering. The solution is integrated with Trapeze’s fixed route scheduling, paratransit software, customer feedback, itinerary planning, ITS and FleetFocus products. As part of Trapeze’s 360 degree vision, the solution can also be integrated with MTA’s third-party payroll, human resources management systems and other applications and data sources.

The MTA is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States, operating Local Bus, Commuter Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway and MARC Train and Mobility services in the Baltimore metropolitan area, and supporting accessible transit systems throughout Maryland. Approximately 360,000 passengers use MTA services every weekday, including 30,000 Baltimore City students.
