Fort Worth Transportation Authority purchased Trapeze Ranger 4 on-board computers for their fleet of 90+ vehicles
Fort Worth, Tx - June 12, 2013

Trapeze Group today announced the Fort Worth Transportation Agency (“The T”) in Texas selected Trapeze to upgrade their aging on-board computers on their MITS fleet to Trapeze Ranger 4 in-vehicle computers.

At The T, Ranger 4 units replace legacy Ranger models and Mobile Data Computers (MDC’s) that have been in use for over nine years to provide realtime management of their fleet of more than 90 vehicles. Ranger 4 is a rugged in-vehicle computer, proven to withstand the harsh transit environment. It meets military specifications for vibration and shock as well as the international standard for water ingress protection. With internal antennas, Ranger is tamper-proof and easy to install and maintain.

Ranger 4 integrates a wide variety of functionality into a single, powerful platform, including electronic dispatching, turn-by-turn navigation, driver behavior monitoring, wireless signature capture, electronic fare payment. Dispatchers can make schedule changes throughout the day which are sent immediately to the driver’s Ranger. Drivers can accept trips with a single click, speeding the dispatching process and eliminating frustrating phone or radio calls.

The T was created as the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, a regional transportation authority of the State of Texas. It provides quality public transportation to meet the mobility needs of Tarrant County and the North Central Texas region. Annually, The T provides nearly nine million passenger trips on buses, vanpools and the Trinity Railway Express, which it jointly owns with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).
