Case Study: LeFleur Transportation Improves Operational Efficiency with Non-Emergency Medical Solution“Trapeze will take us years into the future! We can expand significantly from now on!” BackgroundLeFleur Transportation of Ridgeland, MS, has experienced impressive growth since it began operating in 1993. Focused on providing comprehensive human service transportation systems for their clients the company started with a 3 vehicle service over 15 years ago and now manages a fleet of over 300 vehicles that perform over 600,000 trips each year throughout the U.S. ChallengeGiven the growth of their business LeFleur recognized that it was time to transition from paper-based systems to a computer-based system in order to realize the full potential of their business. The company sought out a non-emergency medical transportation software solution that would help them deliver a higher level of service. They also needed it to reduce the workload and dependency on their dispatchers and schedulers and accurately monitor the efficiency of their operations. SolutionLeFleur selected Trapeze’s non-emergency medical transportation solution - Trapeze MT - in February 2005. The solution helps health service providers deliver quality patient care and improved efficiency thanks to comprehensive management tools. Trapeze MT helps with scheduling, tracking and operational analysis for a wide range of medical transportation services, including non-emergency, brokerage, community and home health programs. According to Jamie Weems, LeFleur’s Operations Manager, Trapeze was selected “because of their willingness to tackle some of the specific needs that face the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation market.” ResultsSince implementing the easy-to-use, Web-based Trapeze solution, LeFleur spends less time preparing schedules, allowing them to focus on managing other elements of the operation. In addition, billing processes have been streamlined across most offices and the company is better able to analyze the efficiency/effectiveness of their operations, by using data captured with the Trapeze solution during real time use of the software. The office staff has more information at their fingertips and can be easily trained to view detailed patient information, including any special needs. These capabilities have significantly increased the reliability and flexibility of the service, as well as the levels of customer service. Weems explained, “We saw a decrease in the amount of time dispatchers needed to produce schedules and routes, as well as process billing information. Training new staff is much easier now that there is a uniform system for creating routes. This also proved to be a good platform for training staff during the start up of two new offices in new service area.” ConclusionThe Trapeze non-emergency medical transportation solution improved LeFleur’s overall operational efficiency enabling them to deliver superior service to their customers while helping to grow their business. With this in mind, LeFleur recently extended their Trapeze solution to include mobile computing capabilities enabling drivers to view itineraries on their mobile devices and inform dispatch of the status of the trip.
