Jönköping Län now live with Trapeze PASS
Trapeze Software announced today that Jönköping Län has gone live with an automated demand response trip booking and dispatching system.
February 21, 2003 (Århus, Denmark) Trapeze Software announced today that Jönköping Län has gone live with an automated demand response trip booking and dispatching system.
Jönköping Länstrafik is responsible for demand response services in the southern Swedish County of Jönköping. In 1999 the county decided to set up an integrated system for all demand response transport in the county.
Consolidating the call center and trip booking function was the first step towards this integrated transport, and in 2002, Jönköping Länstrafik selected Trapeze PASS as the software solution it would use.
Trip requests are phoned into a central dispatch center and same-day journeys can be booked up to one hour prior to the requested pick up time. Trip requests are automatically scheduled by PASS and the trip information is dynamically sent to the appropriate taxi provider. The taxi providers are located throughout the county's 13 municipalities that encompass more than 100 towns. The journey information is sent to the providers’ dispatch centers by fax or FTP or sent directly to in-vehicle Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's).
"We now handle between 1,000 and 1,200 bookings per day", says Jan Peter Petterson, Service Manager, Jönköping Län, “The system functions well. For now three vehicle operators get trip information via computers in the cars, two by fax and one by FTP. The communication from the call center to the cars works fine, and we expect more operators to be connected to our system in March". A final implementation of the medical service trips is scheduled for March, 2003 and the ridership is expected to reach between 1,600 and 1,800 daily trips.
Trapeze PASS is used by more than 400 paratransit and community transportation organizations worldwide to automate client registration, trip booking, dispatching and reporting. PASS integrates with complementary technologies including mobile data terminals (MDTs), automatic vehicle location (AVL), and web-based passenger information and booking systems.
