Shetland Community Transport Live with Trapeze
DRT software automates SEN, social transport
24 March 2003 (Manchester, UK) – Trapeze Software announced today it has implemented a DRT software system for Shetland Islands Council.
Shetland Islands Council provides demand response transport services to clients of the Council’s special education needs and social care services programmes.
Prior to installing the Trapeze software, the operation was managed manually. “We were
a paper-based operation,” recalls Ian Bruce, the Council’s Services Manager-Transport Operations. “We’re very pleased with the Trapeze system. It’s made it much faster and easier to manage our client information, bookings and vehicle dispatch.”
In addition to journeys to and from school and social care establishments, clients use the service for shopping, leisure and medical appointments.
Shetland Islands Council is the UK’s most northerly authority, overseeing services for
23,000 residents on this group of islands in the North Atlantic. The Shetland Islands comprise some 567 square miles in close proximity to fertile fishing grounds and major oil reserves. For more information visit www.shetland.gov.uk.
