Fort Worth Uses RidePro for Rideshare Matching
September 29, 2003 (Mississauga, ON) – Trapeze Software announced today that it has implemented Trapeze RidePro for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (the T).
The Employment Services Department of the T uses the software to register Tarrant County area commuters in the ridesharing program and to match them with available carpool and vanpool opportunities. The Trapeze system generates a list of possible matches based on home address, work address, work hours and other criteria.
According to Gary Allison, the T’s Director of Information Technology, the implementation was a great success. “The data conversion went extremely smoothly, as did the testing of the new system. We were able to transition from the legacy system to RidePro without running the two systems in parallel, which says a lot about our confidence in Trapeze.”
RidePro employs GIS-based techniques for locating matches, enabling users to search within a specific radius of a geocoded address, or along the route-to-work. Trapeze also provides a web-based version of the software that enables commuters and employers to perform their own online registration and rideshare matches. Allison adds, “Our internal users and our clients both are enthusiastic about the software—they are very pleased with the additional functionality they now have and it in particular its ease of use.”
In addition to carpool and vanpool matching, RidePro can also perform matches for public transit, park-and-ride, bike pools, bike routes, day care centers, and telecommuting centers.
