Trapeze Offers New Fixed Route Analysis Tool

Origin and Destination Analysis Supports Service Improvements

November 28, 2003 (Scottsdale, AZ) – Trapeze Software announced today it has added a new tool to its Trapeze PLAN product suite. The Origin and Destination Analysis Tool supports improvement processes as well as planning for a variety of transportation services.

Planners and operations analysts can use the Origin and Destination Analysis Tool to review data collected from passenger requests and identify areas where service adjustments could be considered.

Using data collected from Trapeze fixed route customer information systems (agent-attended, Web-based, or IVR), the product will identify customer requests that have failed due to a lack of service. It can also identify frequently requested origins and destinations that might require extended or more frequent service.

“This type of analysis is very valuable to planning teams looking, for example, for requests that have failed because there is no bus stop within walking distance or because there is no service offered at that time of day” explains Matthew Goddard, Product Manager at Trapeze Software.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit is one of the first agencies to apply the new tool. “We’re still in the early stages with this, but we fully expect our origin/destination analysis will reveal locations that need additional services or service adjustments to keep pace with our growing population,” says Alan Gorman, Senior Manager, Transit IT Systems at DART. “Experience has proved that if you offer the service people want, ridership will continue to grow.”

The Trapeze PLAN suite of products combines spatial data with information from demand response and fixed route scheduling, operations and customer information systems to support demand forecasting, services reviews and general day-to-day management of the operation.
