City of York to use Trapeze for Integrated Transport System
Solution will manage social services and education transport
28 November 2003 (Manchester, UK)—Trapeze Software announced today it has been awarded a contract by City of York Council to provide planning and management software for social services and education transport.
Following a Transport Procurement Best Value review, the Council undertook a project to provide consistent service and reduce costs by integrating mainstream, SEN and community transport schemes.
City of York Council will use Trapeze PASS to automate transport planning, management and delivery for 2,000 mainstream school children, 400 SEN children, 300 day-care adults and 200 elderly clients. The software uses best-practice algorithms, integrated databases, built-in mapping and customised reporting and analysis tools to reduce administration costs, improve service, monitor contractors and generate valuable management information.
The Trapeze system will be phased in over a number of months, with the education transport solution in place by the start of the 2004 school year. City of York operates around 400 daily routes to 200 schools, adult day-care centres, social services facilities and other sites. The organisation uses an in-house fleet of vehicles, along with taxis, school buses and public transport.
City of York Council was honoured as the Transport Local Authority of the Year at the 2003 National Transport Awards.
