Herefordshire Council Chooses Trapeze for Rural Bus Challenge Project

Software will manage community, social services and education transport

19 December, 2003 (Manchester, UK)—Trapeze Software announced today that it has been selected by Herefordshire Council to supply planning and management software for demand responsive, SEN, social services and education transport.

The contract is part of an initiative by the Council to integrate its systems, improve the processes used to manage transport activities, and implement seamless functionality across Education, Social Services and Transportation directorates.

Herefordshire will use Trapeze software for routing, booking, scheduling, and dispatching demand responsive journeys for approximately 500 social services clients. The software automates planning and management with best-practice algorithms, integrated databases, built-in mapping and customisable reporting and analysis tools.

The council will also use the software to support the new ‘Completing the Jigsaw’ project, a flexible and demand responsive service to areas of Herefordshire which currently have little public transport provision. This project is funded by a Rural Bus Challenge grant from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and by the Countryside Agency, which has identified ’Completing the Jigsaw’ as a National Demonstration Project

Trapeze software will also be implemented to manage mainstream school and SEN transport for approximately 6500 children. The software manages all aspects of student transport from routing to scheduling to funding reports.
