York Region Selects Trapeze

Public and Catholic school boards will use MapNet for student transportation

APRIL 30, 2004 (BEACHWOOD, OH) – Student Transportation Services (STS) of York Region has awarded Trapeze Software a contract to provide the agency with a student transportation management system. STS is a joint venture of the York Catholic District School Board and the York Region District School Board and is located in Aurora, Ontario.

STS will implement Trapeze MapNet, a software suite designed specifically for school transportation planners and providers. MapNet will provide the agency with tools for planning, routing, automated scheduling, vehicle maintenance, cost management and reporting.

STS also plans to implement a Web component that will provide convenient online access to school transportation information for schools, school board staff, transportation providers and the public.

“We are confident that MapNet will provide STS with the tools we need to reduce the overall cost of transportation while delivering a safe and reliable service,” commented Jeff Fair, Manager of Student Transportation Services.

Student Transportation Services uses the resources of the York Catholic and York Region District School Boards to provide in excess of 100,000 student rides daily within York Region. All vehicles are contracted to the private sector for the supply and use of equipment, maintenance and drivers, and operate on routes designed and supervised by STS.
