Dallas County Schools Enhances School Transportation Management System

Adds reporting capabilities using AVL technology

CLEVELAND, OH, FEBRUARY 24, 2009 – Trapeze Group today announced that Dallas County Schools in Dallas, Texas is enhancing their existing Trapeze school transportation management system with additional capabilities using new, Web-based Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technology.
 
“We are glad to extend our Trapeze system to include AVL Web-based reporting solution. This will enable administrators to verify their attending students with their schools’ bus stop locations,” explained Leatha Mullins, Chief Technology Officer. “Also, with AVL and the addition of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), we will be able to verify the students that are transported each day.”

Automatic Vehicle Location technology helps school transport providers meet safety, efficiency and service improvements with real-time data. AVL lets dispatch operators see a mapped location for every vehicle, using GPS technology or a variety of other wireless communication services. Historical route and schedule adherence data can be analyzed for future planning and management. With the security features in the new technology, schools can access their specific bus locations in real time, for both viewing and reporting.
