  • Prior to implementing NOVUS-DR, OSU used a “crude” Access database which did not allow for any automation.   • “NOVUS-DR certainly makes our operations more efficient. The software enables us to combine trips and riders in ways that we weren’t previously. This saves our vehicles time and allows us to add capacity to our system without additional vehicles on the street,” says Kovitya. He further explains: “After implementation, we were also able to cut down on the amount of radio traffic by up to 80 percent since ride notifications are automatically sent to the vehicle MDTs.     Says Kovitya: “Trapeze has been excellent to work with from installation support to customer care. The implementation went smoothly with support staff on site during the entire service day for the first week.” Currently, OSU is in the implementation phase for NOVUS-FX which is expected to help reduce the man hours spent creating fix route schedules.

  • The Ohio State University’s (OSU) Transportation & Parking Services run a demand response transportation service called "Handivan." It offers faculty, staff, students, and visitors with temporary or permanent mobility impairments an efficient and convenient way to move around campus. This service operates seven days a week throughout the year, transporting wheelchair and ambulatory passengers door-to-door, both on and off campus within University established boundaries. Eight vehicles perform approximately 200 daily trips.
