Grant Workshop Part 3: Join us for a grant workshop webinar and let’s start planning for 2023

Aug 15, 2022

General

Summer is in full swing, the new school year is on the horizon, and it’s time for transit agencies to start turning their eyes—and their procurement plans—toward 2023. Procurement plans take time and as the first grants under the new Bipartisan Infrastructure Law were rolled out this year, we know the requirements and timing for them now.

We’ve learned that grant applications that include a focus on these elements have a greater chance of receiving funding:

Although we can’t be sure of exact dates until the FTA releases them, we expect 2023 to follow a similar grant cadence as 2022. For transit agencies looking to fund CAD/AVL, Yard Management, or Enterprise Asset Management solutions, two applicable grants will likely open in the first half of the year:

  • Safety: Improving safety across the board for riders and workers.
  • Modernization: Improving infrastructure like roads, bridges, facilities, and utilities.
  • Climate: Green solutions to reduce carbon emissions, including plans for transitioning to zero emissions.
  • Equity: A large focus is on social housing and jobs, with public transit supporting access to jobs.
Grant Expected Application Window Summary Applicable Trapeze/Vontas Soluitions Important Caveat
Buses and Bus Facilities March-May Funding to replace or rehabilitate buses, bus equipment, and related facilities
  • CAD/AVL
  • Yard Management
  • Enterprise Asset Management
In 2022, FTA prioritized funding projects with an electric vehicle tie-in.
Low or No Emissions March-May Funding for the zero- and low-emission vehicles and supporting facilities
  • Yard Management
  • Enterprise Asset Management
Applicants must include a zero-emission transition plan.

Formula funding disbursements should also follow a similar schedule next year as this year. State of Good Repair and Urbanized Area are two formula grants that can be used to help fund several Trapeze and Vontas solutions.

If your state or locality requires an application process to access those funds, you should have a good idea when to expect the application window. It’s common for these to open in the first half of the year—so getting ready now with supporting data will help you as the application windows open. Our previous grants blog summarized a couple of formula grants that are good options for Vontas and Trapeze solutions. Trapeze solutions like Enterprise Asset Management and ViewPoint are particularly helpful for consolidating data and generating the reports you need to support your grant and funding applications.

Vontas and Trapeze are here to help you with your grant needs. Customer agencies should view Vontas and Trapeze as a resource for helping you target and apply for grants. We’re ready to help you refine your applications and help provide the supporting data you need for a successful application.

To learn more, reach out to your Vontas or Trapeze point of contact about attending our grants webinar on August 18th.
